Cookies

Cookie policy

The site starts with no analytics or marketing cookies. They only switch on if you accept them, and you can change your mind whenever you like.

What cookies are

They are small files (or data saved in the browser) a site uses to remember something about you. Some are needed to make it work, some to understand how it's used, others to show advertising. The first kind needs no consent, the others do.

Necessary: always on

The site doesn't need cookies to work. It saves a single technical item in your browser: the choice you make in the banner.

  • jc_consent · browser storage (localStorage) · 6 months · remembers whether you accepted or refused analytics and marketing, so I don't ask again on every page.

Analytics: only with your consent

They help me understand which pages work and where to improve. They only switch on if you accept the «Analytics» category. They are not linked to a name or an email address.

  • Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager · provider Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC.
  • _ga · Google Analytics cookie · 2 years · tells visitors apart anonymously.
  • _ga_ + property code · Google Analytics cookie · 2 years · keeps the session state.
  • Google Analytics 4 does not log IP addresses. Statistics are kept for 14 months.

Marketing: only with your consent

They measure advertising campaigns and show you relevant ads on other platforms. They only switch on with the «Marketing» category. If I ever use tools of this kind (for example the Meta pixel or Google Ads tags) I'll list them here before turning them on.

Search Console

Google Search Console shows me how the site appears in search. It doesn't set cookies in your browser.

How to change your choice

You can reopen the banner at any time from «Cookie settings» in the footer, and accept, refuse or choose category by category. If you refuse or close the banner, only the necessary data stays on.

You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings: the guides for Chrome, Safari and Firefox explain how. To switch off Google Analytics on all sites there is also the browser add-on.

How long your choice lasts

Six months. After that, or if I change the tools I use, I'll ask again.
